Watch 8 teams of internationally acclaimed carvers create 15 blocks sculptures in 34 hours. This is free and open to the public. Vote on your favourite sculpture staring January 21. Weather permitting, the sculptures will be on display through February 2024.

Absolutely! There are amazing photo opportunities at both locations. The carvings are lit up at night and are spectacular. We really appreciate when our guest share photos on social media. Please tag us @chiseledyeg and use the hashtag #chiseled2024 so we can show them off too.

The festival operates in a safe environment for all visitors. Each of the ice carvings in the competition area weighs over 2,000 kgs (4,500 lbs). Thank you for never crossing into the roped-off area around the ice carvings at any time.

Carving ice is made by a special process that freezes from the bottom up, so it’s perfectly clear. It is a fascinating process, visit our supplier, Ice Culture, and check out some of their videos.

A full semi loads of ice will be used. That’s 208 blocks of ice, 24,000 kg’s or 48,000 lbs of ice.

The ice comes from Ice Culture near Mississauga, Ontario. Ice Culture creates the best carving ice in Canada and it is one of the only large-scale carving ice manufacturing plants in the country.

Chiseled is produced by an incredible production team that can accomplish pretty much anything, except control the weather. In 2023 the competition was delayed because of warm weather and the sculptors had to cover their work to prevent excess melt. But the temperature dropped and the artists were able to complete their pieces.
